One-Offs

I'm sorry it's been so long, cyber world! Some of you may think I've been sitting around twiddling my thumbs since Batch 1, but fear not! I've actually been spending every free second in art class trying to figure out a beautiful new LoLA design, among other things. Here's a peek at what I've been working on lately. Unfortunately all three of these shirts are one-of-a-kind and not for sale, but perhaps something could be done about that if you like any of them. I have to get back to looking at pictures of Where the Wild Things Are bento boxes, - oops, I mean doing homework - but here are some photos of my newest creations! Love, LoLA

Running In Style

As some of you may know, the Los Angeles Marathon is this week, and my brother Max and my honorary brother Wesley are running in it. I am so proud of them, and the least I could do is make sure they finish in style with custom LoLA tank tops. It's less than a week away, and they are trying to raise money for cancer research in Southern California to honor important people in their lives who have lost their battles with cancer. Please go to www.firstgiving.com/maxandwes and help spread the word! Love, LoLA. And don't fret, I have posted some pictures below. Good Luck Mashy and Wesley the Bestley!

Batch 1

Here are some photos of Batch 1. For now I only have a few of each size, so let me know ASAP if you want one! Depending on what you think, I may or may not make more of this style. Love, LoLA

Snow Day

Today was the second Snow Day we had this month! I planned to print the rest of my dyed shirts today, but I ran out of time doing homework! Anyways, I think I am going to start doing LoLA shirts in batches. Even though they're already one-of-a-kind, LoLA shirts might even be limited edition. I will probably dye a batch of shirts a certain color, print them all very similarly, and then move on to a new color. Hopefully the first batch will be done soon, I'm so sorry for the wait! And since they'll all be limited edition, collect them all like they're Avatar Happy Meal toys! Love, LoLA

Free People

Sorry this is so late, but the other day I went to the Free People headquarters for an interview and I brought the LoLA shirts just to show them some of my ideas. They loved them, and introduced me to their very own blogger, who took pictures of them and posted them on the Free People blog! You can access it by going to their blog and scrolling down, or directly at http://blog.freepeople.com/2010/02/lola-by-isby/. Also, I just got all of my supplies and started printing at home! I only have one style and four sizes right now but please show your support! Love, LoLA.

Get Ready

If any of you are still interested in buying a LoLA shirt, I just received an order of blank t-shirts in the mail. Maybe I can get to dying this weekend and hopefully I will start printing soon. I need to get together my screen and some inks, and as long as I don't destroy the apartment we're good to go. Still thinking about buying one? Inbox me on Facebook please and we can work it out. Remember, each one is custom made by me by hand, so I'll need your sizes. I will probably have a few different styles to choose from to start off with. So far I have two girls sizes, and two boys sizes. I'm sorry it's been so long, followers. Love, LoLA

Guess What!

I'm back in New York, and I'm thinking about trying to set up a mini screen printing studio in my bedroom. I still need to work out the details, and how I can have enough room in a small space, but it looks like the LoLA shirts might be available for sale soon! Because of Copyright issues, I'm pretty sure I can't sell the Space Ghost/Max/Ariel design, but I could start with the image of the three kids and the dog, and I have plenty more ideas for the spring. What do you think, followers? Love, LoLA

Followers...

Pretty much, following my blog or making it your Facebook status seems to be the new thing to do. Thank you to all of my lovely followers, and status updaters. Let's try for even more! Love, LoLA

Wednesday, January 13, 2010

When I ask people about my blog, I've recently been getting either "I want one!" or "You're stupid, all you talk about is how you love your family, so you make t-shirts". I like both, for the record, but I hope my posts don't sound sappy and ridiculous. I just want to share where I'm coming from, because I'm all about storytelling and things that have back stories. I think it would be pretty cool to have a collection inspired by you, so I'm just letting my brothers have the spotlight they deserve! And, of course, they get a picture, third from the bottom. Keep up the following! Love, LoLA

So I've been getting a lot of questions about whether or not I hand make all of the LoLA shirts, and the answer is Yes. I draw all of the designs, burn them into screens, dye my own blanks (all of the t-shirts started off white, until they met my kitchen...), mix my own custom inks, and print the shirts myself. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. And keep the followers coming! Love, LoLA

Photoshoot

Thank you to Kate Richardson and Kristen Lee, for photographing my line and for modeling it. This photo shoot was done at my house in LA. This house is where I have my first memories, so it only seemed right to begin there. The shoot was inspired by childhood and new beginnings, and to us that meant tea parties, cousins, and laughing piles. I would love to know what you think of it. Love, LoLA

The Beginning

Hi, I'm Isby and this is LoLA, the beginnings of a collection of screen-printed t-shirts and other items that I have designed and handmade. LoLA is all about what inspires me, starting with the most important thing of all: my family. My first collection is inspired by my brothers, and how they helped me and still are helping me become the person I am today. Love, LoLA
